What's New at Headache & Pain Center:
- PENS/PNT (Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation / Percutaneous Neuromodulation Therapy), a minimally invasive treatment for neck and low back pain. We were one of the first Pain Management Centers in Florida to offer this treatment. Dr. Friedman has been helping patients with this treatment for nearly 10 years. It involves insertion of very thin needles and nonpainful electrical stimulation.
- Botox® (botulinum toxin) was recently approved by the FDA for use in chronic migraine headaches. Botox is used for cervical dystonia (painful neck muscle spasm), spasticity (spasms), Migraine Headache and other pain problems.
- Low-Level Laser Therapy for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and neck pain. Acupuncture for pain and headaches.
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) : see Brainstim.com. TMS is FDA-approved for depression that has not responded to medication. It shows promise for chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and other neurological and pain conditions.
- Transcranial DC Stimulation (tDCS)
- EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies consist of nerve tests and muscle tests which help the doctor determine how the nerves and muscles are functioning. This can diagnose nerve damage, pinched nerves, neuropathy, nerve pain, muscle spasm, and back and neck problems.
